The Miami Police Department has some advice for Miami Art Week patrons: Leave your car at home.

Use ride share services such as Uber and Lyft or public transportation such as buses and trolleys to get around the area, officials suggest.

Art Basel returns to Miami Beach Dec. 6-9 along with other fairs in downtown Miami, the Design District and the Wynwood arts district.

During a press conference in Wynwood Monday, Miami police chief Jorge Colina addressed the upcoming traffic woes and some of the plans to keeping visitors safe such as the deployment “of a lot of cameras.”

“We are going to have a zero tolerance for impaired drivers, a zero tolerance for underage drinking so we are going to be out looking for that,’’ he added.

“This is a fabulous week for Miami where you can come out and enjoy the galleries, the food, the music, the cafés, everything that Miami has to offer,’’ he said. “Let’s just be mindful, bring your patience because traffic is going to be tough.”

The department will be releasing maps of street closures and suggested pick up and drop off points for ride shares.

One significant closure: Wynwood’s main drag, Northwest Second Avenue, will be shut down to traffic between 20th and 29th streets from Dec. 7 to Dec. 9.
